Our Founder
Lisa Godley has spent the last ten years working as an Anchor/Reporter in the Hampton Roads television market. Lisa, an award winning television journalist, knows what shots are needed to create compelling television. Her team of former news photographers and producers have spent years perfecting their craft and are eager to meet the needs of Acacia Tree's clients. Lisa is well equipped to train corporations on how to handle the tough questions and what to do when the media comes knocking at their door. This makes her skills highly marketable when it comes to producing everything from training videos to television programs and mini documentaries.
Lisa is also Co-Producer of Another View, a public television program that addresses issues specific to the vibrant African American community of Hampton Roads, and Associate Producer of What Matters, a program taking a fresh look at the issues, people, concerns and community affairs that matter to the people of Hampton Roads.
About Us
Acacia Tree Productions was inspired in the early morning hours while its founder, Lisa Godley, was reading her Bible. Lisa, a television journalist for close to two decades had decided to start her own business and was searching the scriptures for guidance. While thumbing through the glossary for a definition, her eyes fell on the word Acacia, pronounced (ah-kay-sha). The definition read: A flowering tree that produces hard durable wood used for making sacred objects.
Lisa was intrigued and eager to learn more. Searching the web, she found pictures of Acacia tree's and their beautiful white and yellow flowers and she thought, "How feminine! But what about those sacred objects made from Acacia wood?" She soon learned that when God commanded the Israelites to build the Ark of the Covenant to house the ten commandments, he instructed them to use (shittim) wood-which is Hebrew for Acacia. Some biblical scholars also believe that the Acacia Tree may have been the "burning bush," that God used to speak to Moses.
Lisa began to grin, the symbolism caused her spirit to swell over how God used a sweet smelling, flowering tree for something so powerful! That very morning, Acacia Tree Productions was born.
